WHY CAN'T I STAY LONG IN ONE CALL CENTER?

Try to remember the last time that you went out to get some goods from the grocery. When you were about to pay for your goods at the checkout counter, did you:

A. Choose to line up on the shortest queue and stick to that lane?

B. Go after the shortest line but switched lane when the person ahead of you was held up?

C. Take the shortest line, switching to different lanes, whichever gets shorter

So, who are you amongst the three?

If your answer is C, you may be that call center agent who jumps from one call center to another throughout your career. Do you think of getting away as soon as you encounter some challenges at work or a sticky situation? Do you tend to choose the path of less resistance - call center hopping?

Right! After all, there are many lanes that you can take or lots of call centers that never ran out of job openings. But that was 10,000 years ago. A lot of changes are happening with the outsourcing industry. Some of the Western and European companies has pulled out their outsourced contact centers after negative feedback from their own customers. Read this report:

A resume that shows scattered experiences from different call centers gives hiring managers a lot of reason to lose their confidence on the applicant and invite you for an interview.

So, what do you need to do? Here's some tips to help:

1. You need to sit down and try to understand why have you got a constant hunger for something new, new activities, stimulations, or new experience. Why can't you be contented? Is there something missing inside? Try to identify it.

2. When encountered with an obstacle, choose to learn from the experience instead of quitting. Commit to grow than escape. It will do you good to gain quality experiences than quantity.

3. Take your sweet time to reflect on your career path. Try to analyze the long- term gains and loss of staying in one company. Would slowing down your activities and concentrating on one of them yield better results for you? With less distractions and noise, you can pay more attention to that single activity and become competent at it. Master it.

4. Try to challenge yourself to get thru the challenges. What you fear most is what you need to conquer most.

The line may be long in the grocery, but with patience and commitment to stick to your lane, you will be able to check out smoothly and happily.
